A New Place to Write

A New Place to Write

I'm trying something new. For a long time, I've had a personal blog at bndkt.com, but I publish content over there very rarely. With all the stuff I'm learning and building, there would be lots to write about, both to document for myself and others to learn from.

That's why I set out to write (and publish) more—a lot more.

So, I thought about what has kept me from publishing more in the past, and I've identified two major reasons:

Perfectionism
I'm setting the bar too high for myself, expecting every piece I write to be detailed, insightful, and polished. This leads to lots of ideas or insights never being published because I don't have the time to flesh them out enough to meet this high bar I set. This means I miss many opportunities to share what I'm working on, and readers miss out on potentially interesting content.

Technical Curiosity
My blog is not just a writing outlet for me. It's a personal website that I built using my favorite web technologies (React, Remix, Tailwind, Cloudflare Pages). Consequently, when I set out to "work on my blog," it often ends with me tweaking technical details, upgrading dependencies, or trying out new libraries that could potentially improve my website. But I should just be writing instead!

To address these hurdles, I've decided to start over with a new blog. I might merge this with my existing blog later and port the content over, but for now, it will be a separate experiment.

Over the next 30 days, I plan on writing and publishing on this site every day. I've purposefully chosen a hosted platform for this blog and will purely focus on publishing content - no tweaking the theme, no technical finesse, no extracurriculars at all!

For a few weeks now, I've been working on a very exciting project, and instead of waiting until it's finished and then putting together a big write-up, I'll share my progress and learnings along the way.

I'll talk more about this project over the next few days. All I will say today is if you're into React, React Native, web and app frameworks in general, or local-first development approaches specifically, it will likely be very interesting for you.

Join me on this adventure—and let me know if you have any questions!
